Oneil J. Wildgoose is an experienced operations and safety leader with more than 25 years of hands-on and executive experience across container ports and oil and gas terminals throughout the Caribbean. His career began on the operational front line, working directly with heavy equipment, cranes, and stevedoring operations, which helped shape a leadership style grounded in practicality, accountability, and respect for the realities of the job.
He currently serves as Head of Quality, Safety, Health & Environment at Hutchison Ports Freeport Bahamas, where he leads safety culture development, regulatory compliance, and the integration of ISO management systems across both terminals. In addition to his QHSE responsibilities, Oneil also oversees Operations and Engineering Training, as well as Terminal Operations Support, helping to strengthen operational readiness, workforce competency, engineering capability, and safe terminal performance.
Throughout his career, Oneil has been known for translating complex regulatory, engineering, and safety requirements into practical systems that work at the operational level. His leadership supports day-to-day terminal operations, cross-departmental coordination, training development, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Prior to joining Hutchison Ports Freeport Bahamas, Oneil held senior leadership roles in the oil and gas sector for more than 12 years, including HSSE Manager at Buckeye Bahamas Hub and Senior Manager of Operations at the Buckeye St. Lucia Terminal. In these roles, he led multidisciplinary teams across operations, maintenance, projects, and HSSE, while overseeing critical infrastructure and managing high-consequence risk.
Oneil holds advanced academic qualifications, including a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, a Master of Science in Health, Safety & Environmental Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Risk, Crisis and Security Management. He also maintains extensive professional certifications in health and safety, training, and project management, supporting his practical, systems-based approach to leadership and operational excellence.
Oneil believes that real safety starts with how work is actually done, not how it looks on paper. His leadership approach emphasizes accountability, practical training, and visible leadership in the field. He is driven by the view that operational excellence is achieved when people understand the job, trust the system, and take ownership of outcomes.
