Freeport Container Port opened it’s world-class container terminal in 1997. Our proximity to the United States and key trade lanes made FCP the ‘Transhipment Hub of the Americas’
In addition to the normal discharge storage and load of the containers, Freeport Container Port also provides specialized and supplemental services.
Freeport Container Port’s main clients are; Mediterranean shipping company and Line,
Between them 19 different services call Freeport, which connect it to the world.
These services have a rotation where they stop a different countries before and after leaving Freeport.
These services include; reefer monitoring, reefer repair, breakbulk cargo lifting and container inspections. FCP also facilitates imports and exports to the island.
The gate opens from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday with Bahamas customs on location to facilitate all required government documentation. Looking forward, FCP is focused on three things; expanding the terminal embracing industry technology and expanding the services that we provide to the customer.
Freeport Container Port’s current footprint covers 140 acres. The remaining areas on the peninsula provides for seamless expansion; there is 36.5 acres of yard and 785 Meters of birth line available. FCP’s annual handling capacity can increase 45% to 2.3 million TEUs.
In terms of additional services we intend to expand our Cold storage, expand our reefer capacity, begin container cleaning and also container repair.
