The Crane Operator undertakes Gantry Quayside Crane operating duties in support of Shipside operation to safely achieve consistent levels of high productivity.  Performs container roll-on roll-off cargo handling duties and the operation of other equipment with minimum delay and damage, with due concern for safety and in accordance with established operating procedures.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Successful completion of Ship Working, crane checking and straddle driving training.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• High standard of physical fitness and dexterity
• MUST not be afraid of heights
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
• Be able to prioritize work and use initiative to improve processes

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Perform routine checks and maintenance on the Gantry Quayside Crane, reporting any issues to the Dispatcher.
• Operate the Gantry Quayside Crane to efficiently move containers and cargo between vessels and the quay.
• Ensure containers are accurately positioned both on the vessel and beneath the quayside crane for proper alignment.
• Immediately report any visible damage to vessels, containers, or cargo to the relevant personnel.
• Assist with securing and releasing containers/cargo according to stow and lashing plans.
• Use lashing equipment for breakbulk/non-unitized cargo loading/discharge.
• Ensure containers are consistent with documentation/data and report discrepancies.
• Input electronic information accurately and return completed documentation to the supervisor.
• Ensure all documents and data are updated and properly handed over before accepting responsibility.
• Follow Health and Safety policies and ensure work practices align with safety guidelines.
• Ensure work areas are clear of hazards and comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
