PURPOSE OF POSITION
The IT Security Technician position exists to monitor, manage and maintain a proactive enterprise security posture for desktops, servers and mobile devices utilizing applicable security tools and security updates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Educational knowledge and skills required for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5 years’ work experience.
- CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, Security +, MCSA/ Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals/ Identity and Access Administrator Associate certification is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience with deploying Windows desktop and Server security updates.
- Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, supervisors and other departments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of patch management, firewalls and intrusion detection / prevention systems;
- Knowledge and hands on skills of Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022
- Knowledge and hands on skills of Windows 10 and 11;
- Knowledge and hands on skill of threat monitoring, detection, and response applications/tools
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of producing weekly or monthly reports
- Ability to work directly with vendors and users to identify and resolve security issues.
- Knowledge and ability to adhere to applicable security policies and procedures.
- Resolve problems based on existing documentation/training/resources.
- Develop and/or implement information technology solutions to enhance enterprise systems security.
- Excellent working relationship with Managers, Technical Staff, peers and customers
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Create, implement, and maintain security protocols and controls
- Generate consistent reporting for managers and IT administrators to evaluate the effectiveness of current security protocols
- Monthly tracking and deployment of security updates

- Investigate, document, and report security problems and emerging security trends
- Anticipate threats, incidents, and alerts to help prevent the likelihood of them occurring
- Manage network intrusion detection, detection and response systems
- Analyze all security breaches to determine the root causes
- Execute regular security vulnerability scanning
- Identification of security areas that can be improved, and the implementation of solutions to those areas
- Follow prescribed cyber security incident response procedures and make recommendations for improvement
- Ensuring documented IT inventory aligns with systems deployed with security tools
- Follow all IT policies procedures and standards.
- Any other duties assigned.
WORK CONDITIONS:
· Occasional evening, overnight, or after-hours support may be required
· Participation in scheduled IT maintenance or upgrade projects involving operational or industrial equipment, including cranes and straddle carriers
· Some project work may require working at heights, such as accessing elevated equipment, cabins, or platforms
· Work at heights is infrequent, planned, and performed in accordance with approved OSHA / WHS / HSE safety procedures
· Employees will receive required safety training, supervision, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Physical requirements may include bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving IT equipment
· Must adhere to company policies, information security standards, and access control requirements
· Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of information systems and data

- Ensure that no team member is allowed to work in situations which may be hazardous.
- Ensure that risk assessments are carried out for all activities undertaken in your area of responsibility and properly recorded in accordance with Company Procedure.
SAFETY CONDUCT
