The Engineering Department at the Freeport Container Port Limited invites qualified persons to apply for the position of Electrical Technician. The Quay Crane (Electrical) Technician performs corrective and preventative maintenance on all FCP equipment.  The focus is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and inspect STS (ship-to-shore) container cranes. Other duties to include but not limited to troubleshooting and repair of various types of port equipment. The successful candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Technical and vocational training in mechanical or electrical field or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Technician
• 2+ years of experience or training in electrical/mechanical maintenance in any heavy industry or industrial field
• Must have knowledge of electrical/electronic and related subjects
• Experience in: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Motor maintenance and troubleshooting (AC/DC), solid state/magnetic motor control AC/DCV
• Single phase & 3-Phase Electrical certification (a plus)

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 

• Understands mechanical gearing and application.
• Understands diesel engines functioning and applications.
• Strong knowledge of electrical 101 (24 volts) & high voltage handling (Electrical Machine Services)
• Strong Knowledge of fluid systems, Pneumatic systems
• Strong tool handling skills and Strong electric or mechanical skills
• Strong computer literacy and knowledge of electrical/mechanical software
• Ability to replace/repair/adjust major electrical/electronic parts such as PLC drive control system, communication drive system, at a high level of difficulty and complexity.
• Knowledge of safety requirements with working around voltage up to 13kV
• In-depth ability to interpret electrical/electronic diagram, simple engineering drawings, layouts and specifications.
• General knowledge of instrumentation and communications systems, and a familiarity with control systems.
• General knowledge and background in technical applications of digital and analogue electronics General knowledge and background in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
