The Systems Support Specialist position exists to provide the highest level of professional services to assure establishment and upkeep of stable, user-friendly Mission-Critical Business systems, that meet the functional needs of the Business Units to maximize technology efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems
- 5 years’ work experience
- A+, Server+, Network+, MCSA certification is preferred.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience with Windows desktop and Server products and operational processes or other user perspectives.
- Programming and development experience in Crystal Reports, Java & VBA.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and hands on skill of database management including SQL & SQL Reporting
- Knowledge and hands on skill of Windows Server 2008 & 2016 and Windows 10 environments
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customer or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management.
- Ability to work directly with users to resolve client system configuration issues and properly, document status and issues in case management systems for end users and internal project teams.
- Ability to communicate solutions to application users, Administrators and other affected personnel to aid in future problem solving ability.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Provide Support including system administration to locally hosted deployments and the software/services that make up the functional environment
- Maintain configuration changes and user management in client deployments and data models
- Perform regular test procedures for certification of client environment health and proper operation following upgrades and service interruptions
- Provide initial response to user-reported issues by phone, email, or case management system; determine proper routing of issues that should be handled by other Technical Services teams
- Validate new releases through UAT procedures and manage the upgrade of client environments with each release, including testing, training and implementation.
- Accurately communicate status, issues, and requirements to management through the case management system
- Ensure that hardware and software systems are maintained
- Suggest and provide IT solutions to business and management problems
- Trouble-shooting ranging from critical system outages to forgotten passwords
- Work closely with other departments to analyze requirements or solve problems.
- Plan and implement future IT developments and ensure the most cost effective and efficient use of resources.
