The role provides professional engineering in industrial maintenance, technical asset management and leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams while ensuring requisite standards are adhered to with completion of all related documentation. Additionally, provides reliability and electrical engineering support to the company’s maintenance requirements for Port logistics and process control.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate must be a University Graduate in Electrical Engineering (qualified engineer) with instrumentation and process control platform literate along with a minimum of twenty (20) years’ experience in industrial operations with PLC systems, terminal expansion projects, asset inspection and the development of customized solutions for power generation and industrial refrigeration. Proficiency in frequency inverters, automation systems, TPM, RCM, and risk management.
The successful candidate must have the knowledge, skills and ability to:
- Maintain Port equipment, industrial refrigeration systems, and provide energy solutions.
- Plan maintenance and electrical infrastructure for the terminal and cold storage facilities.
- Developed short, medium, and long-term strategic and operational plans.
- Provide technical support for civil projects to expand piers and operational areas.
- Lead energy transition projects at the terminal, including RTG electrification, self-generation of energy, and cold ironing.
- Develop initiatives for acquiring Ship-to-Shore Cranes, Straddle Carriers/RTGs, tractors, and reach stackers, as well as equipment retrofits.
- Manage port maintenance, cold storage, and reefer monitoring teams of over 180 employees.
- Execute statistical planning and control for critical decisions, risk management, and emergencies.
- Implement total quality practices in maintenance, ensuring compliance.
- Play an active role in achieving ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 certifications at the terminal
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for the maintenance sector.
- Provide technical operational support for the development of Green field and Brown field terminals in Freeport.
- Collaborate in the inspection and evaluation of terminal strategic asset acquisition.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating engineering, maintenance, operations and warehouse teams ensuring integration between areas and process efficiency. Leads operational and technical activities focused on asset performance and availability.
- Optimizing preventative and corrective maintenance routines based on indicators while supervising the standardization of procedures and material control
- Coordinating mechanical maintenance teams, ensuring continuous and efficient operation of Port equipment.
- Planning and implementing statistical maintenance controls for use on predictive, preventive and corrective systems.
- Optimizing asset management to increase availability and reduce downtime, while supervising execution according to safety and quality standards
- Performing inspections, maintenance, calibrations and programing of converters, frequency inverters, and programmable logic controllers in quay and yard cranes.
- Conducting start-ups of industrial and Port equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation, while training technical teams to promote continuous development and procedure standardization.
- Diagnosing issues in electro-electronic and mechanical systems, improving asset reliability.
- Inspecting and maintaining smart substations, generator sets, transformers, medium/low voltage networks, and developing expertise in electro-electronics and mechanics of heavy equipment and continuous processes
- Resolves critical technical issues in portioners, RTG’s, Rech Stackers, transtainers, cranes, strads, gates, reefers and building infrastructure
- Leading electrical renovations, panel assembly, and electronic board repairs while providing technical support to the mechanical team and contributing to the acquisition of specialized equipment and tools
