PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for the serviceability, maintenance and repair of refrigerated containers on the terminal with duties that include but are not limited to plug-in, unplug, monitoring and repairs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent certification from a trade school
- A/C Refrigeration/Electrical practical experience.
- Minimum one (1) year training program in theory and hands on laboratory work from an accredited school in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a high standard of physical fitness with the ability to climb ladders and three/four flights below deck carrying tools and spear parts with little or no lighting
- Must be able to lift spare parts, motors and tools through out Park and on Vessels carrying ladder to unplug and plug in Reefers on second tier
- The ability to carry out responsibilities with assistance from Reefer Technician I or Head of Reefer Services
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for plug-in and un-plug of temperature controlled units at the power points for vessel operations and for collection and receiving by truckers.
- Responsible for monitoring all temperature controlled units at intervals prescribed by policy.
- Responsible to record times of each monitoring call, using manual or automated systems as prescribed by policy.
- Responsible to notify management in accordance with policy of any fault or damage and any variance in operating temperature.
- Responsible as required to affix, remove or replace temperature recording charts. And retain those removed from refrigerated units according to policy.
- Responsible for checking or verifying container seals at the power points. And in the absence of seals notify management.
- Responsible for repairs to temperature controlled units at the points and on-board vessels as directed by supervisor.
- Responsible only to attend on-board vessels, where instructed by supervisor for the purpose of reefer services.
